Urban Dynamics recently submitted an exciting new project for township establishment in Ondangwa, Northern Namibia. A new neighborhood, comprising 978 new erven are being created as part of an affordable housing scheme initiative of Namib Bou (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Capricorn Investment Holdings group. Following a tendering process, Namib Bou (Pty) Ltd purchased 80 hectares of land from the Ondangwa Town Council.
Urban Dynamics Africa and Lithon Project Consultants were involved from the outset and tasked to investigate local conditions and then re-design the project so as to meet the social needs and financial constraints of the target market. As a result, 951 new single residential erven were created with ample land to accommodate the required neighborhood facilities.
The client and consulting team is proud to announce that the project contributed to the objective of providing more affordable and cost effective housing options to Namibian residents. It is anticipated that formal layout approval for these new extensions will be obtained early January 2011. The implementation of the project and construction phase will follow thereafter.
